ruritan disaster relief programRecent Operation We Care Activity: Year: 2004 Donations Given to OWC: $47,451 Total Gifts Made to Disaster Victims: $29,980 Year: 2005 Donations Given to OWC: $40,089 Total Gifts Made to Disaster Victims: $39,722 Notes: Included over $30,000 to Katrina Hurricane and Flood Victims Year: 2006 Donations Given to OWC: $21,232 Total Gifts Made to Disaster Victims: $40,276 Notes: Included an additional $27,000 to Katrina Hurricane and Flood Victims and $13,000 to Hermitage District tornado victims TOTALS: Donations Given to OWC: $108,772 Total Gifts Made to Disaster Victims: $109,983 Operation We Care Operation We Care, a joint effort between Ruritan National and the Ruritan National Foundation, provides aid to victims of situations officially declared disasters by the state and federal governments. Operation We Care (OWC) disaster relief fills in the gaps of assistance when other relief agencies have no more to give. The amounts distributed each year vary with the need and donations received. In recent years, the disaster relief fund has consistently provided grants totaling over $40,000 annually. How to Activate Operation We Care Those requesting Operation We Care disaster relief must be in an area that has been declared a disaster by either the federal government or the state government. Application must be made to the local Ruritan District Governor. District/Area Governors should call the Ruritan Home Office toll free at (877) 787-8727 for program details if their district is struck by a state or federally declared disaster. A disaster situation report will be sent to the caller immediately. The Ruritan National Foundation will review the needs listed on the report as soon as possible. How to Donate to Operation We Care Operation We Care can always use your donations -- no one knows where the next disaster will strike. Please help by sending your personal donation or funds from your Club or District to the address below. And don't forget -- your club and/or district can hold a special fund-raiser for OWC at any time. Gifts to OWC are tax deductible. If you've experienced a disaster in your area, contact your District Governor to have him/her submit a situation report to OWC. Ruritan clubs and individuals are encouraged to make donations to Operation We Care. All donations are tax-deductible, and will remain in a special Ruritan National Foundation fund until disaster relief is requested.
